What we do
Founded in 2016 by Jean-Charles Samuelian and Charles Gorintin, Alan is the first independent digital health insurance in France since 1986.
By providing our members with a delightful health insurance bundled with innovative healthcare services, Alan's long-term goal is to offer personalised healthcare to millions of Europeans, and beyond.
How we do it
We put our members first, our team second,
our shareholders third.
We empower everyone to make courageous decisions and to work asynchronously.
We take all our decisions in writing and adopt a direct and honest style of communication.
We are self-improving whilst helping others grow. We’re no ego-doers and we all edit the company.
We shoot for the moon and work backwards.
We push for excellence by focusing on uncomfortable A+ problems.
Meet the team
We nurture a friendly & safe environment, which fosters a strong sense of collaboration, because teamwork has a much better outcome than individual work. We trust each other and are positive challengers - accepting and providing feedback as a gift.

Hiring top talent is key so we don’t want to be restricted to a small number of cities, therefore in the countries we are already present in, Alaners can be based fully remotely. More European countries are soon to be added to the list! Furthermore, we also offer the flexibility to be based temporarily in another country in a European timezone.
Perks & Benefits
We have decided to invest in a large number of perks because we want the whole team to be happy and efficient:
Amazing office space in the headquarters, sponsored co-working hubs or a full-remote experience for those who want, with home office equipment sponsorship.
Competitive Salary and generous equity
Top of the range equipment: Macbook Pro, keyboard, laptop stand, monitor, and Bose noise-cancelling headphones
Alaners can organize their time off as they wish.
Extremely comprehensive health insurance with Alan Blue - 100% of the contribution covered by Alan for you and your family
Country-specific commuter benefits
A very flexible Training policy at Alan, free books and budget to attend and speak at conferences if the opportunity arises
Extended parental leave for all new parents & daycare solutions (France only)
Our recruitement process
We want to get to know you, and for you to learn about us. We aim for our successful candidates to gather enough insight into our culture & mission to make an informed decision to join us!
A video call to learn more about you and your career ambitions. Also for you to enrich your knowledge about Alan, the team and the role.
We have a strong written culture (in English) so we want to assess your ability to articulate a comprehensive and argued point of view in a concise way.
This interview is a deep dive into the technical skills required to succeed in the job you are applying for.
This interview is conducted by someone with a different expertise to you, to assess your cultural fit to Alan, to our values and working methods.
We sometimes ask for professional references before we proceed to the next stage.
You will spend the day with us (remotely) meeting different Alaners during our assessments and interviews. It will give you true insight into the Day in the Life of an Alaner!
We commit to providing feedback within 2 working days maximum and if all goes well, you will receive your offer!
It varies from candidate to candidate depending on their availability and if they are in other interview processes. Most stages don’t require you to work on a project at home so we can move quickly between each stage if we need to.
Yes — our business language is English, all our written communication is in English, as is a large proportion of our oral communication. So an advanced level of written & spoken English is required.
We look for an approach that reflects our internal way of communication - we simplify by communicating with a clear structure, we back up what we say with examples and data points. The importance of this step is often underestimated by candidates but it’s a key one as writing is at the centre of our culture and ways of working.
Reflect on your career so far, think about the highlights and the lowlights. Take a step back on the things you achieved, those you did not, the people you worked with, the environment you thrive in...
You can read more about how we determine the level, but to put this into context we have included the details of a few Alaners here:
If you can’t find your dream job in the list, please submit a spontaneous application. Many roles are not listed and we are always looking for top talent!
We provide transparent feedback to our candidates throughout the process, including positive & constructive feedback if you make it to an interview stage, to help you learn from the experience.
Furthermore, our recruitment process is distributed between many different Alan employees. Your application will be shared with them transparently. You can read more about this in our Hiring Privacy page.
